Clear Glass Moravian Star - Small

From Mexico

Traditional Mexican glass stars have a rich tradition of lighting up haciendas and backyards with their many faceted points.  Their history lies even further afield in the villages of Germany where paper versions were first used as holiday decorations.  Some have written that they were originally conceived as complex mathematical models to teach German school children geometry.

Today these glass lanterns make wonderful lights which can be hung from the iron loop at the top - or they can sit easily on a shelf or tabletop.  Our star lanterns come unwired - but they can easily be wired for electricity by an electrician or at a local lighting workshop. One easy way to light them up is to tuck a strand of battery operated twinkle lights inside!  Even not illuminated these stars make a lovely statement.

A hinged section of the points allows easy access for wiring, changing lightbulbs once wired, or placing a strand of twinkle lights.
